You will be responsible for analyzing safety-critical functions in ADAS and automated driving systems that traditionally rely on HD-boards – e.g. track modeling, context and scene interpretation, as well as localization.
In addition, you will evaluate system architectures with and without HD-board support regarding functional safety and performance.
In your role, you will develop safety concepts for map-based and map-less driving while considering relevant standards (e.g. ISO 26262, SOTIF).
You will also define security-relevant requirements for perception, sensorics, and data fusion – especially when HD-boards are partially or completely eliminated.
Your tasks will include conceptualizing and conducting experimental studies, simulations, or prototypical implementations to evaluate the feasibility of map-less procedures.
You will establish quantitative and qualitative criteria to determine when the use of an HD-board is safety-critically necessary – and when not.
You will compare various mapping and localization methods (Map-based, Map-light, Map-less) regarding robustness, redundancy, and costs.
You will work closely with internal and external partners from ADAS, Map Services, Software Development, as well as research institutions, if necessary.
Finally, you will publish your scientific results in professional journals and present them at conferences.
