Job Description

Healthy soldiers are essential for the safety of the Netherlands. Do you want to make a meaningful contribution to the deployability of our soldiers? You can do that at the Ministry of Defence as a doctor's assistant in the health center in Leeuwarden. From telephone triage to working day shifts at the outpatient clinic. You will find all of this and much more in this challenging role.

At the primary healthcare company (EGB), the health and deployability of our soldiers are central. As a doctor's assistant, you provide integrated care to soldiers under non-operational circumstances. You work with the team on daily tasks, where no day is the same. For example, you may be involved in medical emergencies and, together with the military doctor, you will be responsible for the initial care of patients. In short, a versatile and unique position.

Furthermore, you will be involved in: • vaccinating soldiers; • performing outpatient day shifts, including carrying out medical procedures such as vaccinations, wart treatments, ear lavages, and other medical procedures; • telephone triage, where you assess and prioritize patients' needs, and organize appropriate care or advice; • preparing travel advice; • carrying out all associated administrative tasks;

You will work in the Northern region at the Leeuwarden airbase. The Northern region includes the barracks in Assen, Havelte, and 't Harde. The intention is to collaborate more with each other in the future and to substitute for each other if necessary. Therefore, you may occasionally be deployed at one of these locations.

The Defence Healthcare Organization (DGO) is one of the four divisions of the Defence Support Command. The DGO supports the operational commands and contributes to the deployability of soldiers. For this, we offer primary and secondary care, training, and logistical support. We also support the care (including preparations and aftercare) that the operational commands provide during deployments.
The Primary Healthcare Company (EGB) is responsible for providing integrated care to soldiers under non-operational circumstances. This means we offer preventive, curative, and parts of occupational healthcare.
