Job description
Req ID:500765
In Alstom, we understand transportation networks and what drives people. From high-speed trains, metro lines, monorails, and trams to key-in-hand systems, services, infrastructure, signaling, and digital mobility, we offer our diverse clients the industry's broadest portfolio. Each day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way towards a more ecological and intelligent mobility worldwide, connecting cities while reducing carbon emissions and replacing cars.
As Computer-Aided Design (CAD) Mechanical Designer 3D, you will be at the heart of our train design process—developing and integrating mechanical solutions within the Digital Manufacturing Unit (DMU). You will collaborate across disciplines to bring concepts to life, from initial design to production support. Day-to-day, you will work closely with teams throughout the company (such as product development, quality assurance, maintenance, and manufacturing) in a collaborative and multicultural organizational ecosystem.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and integrating mechanical installations in 3D
- Performing pre-dimensioning and interface definition
- Creating and reviewing technical drawings and metadata
- Conducting tolerance accumulation analysis and managing Space Assignment Models (SAM)
- Collaborating with internal teams and suppliers to ensure design viability
- Supporting production teams and participating in First Assembly Reviews
- Contributing to continuous improvement and problem-solving initiatives
We value passion and attitude over experience, so we've listed some skills that we believe will help you succeed and grow in this role:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD 3D modeling and drawing creation (CATIA preferred)
- Knowledge of PLM systems (such as ENOVIA or Team Center)
- Experience in mechanical design (preferably in heavy industry or transportation)
- Advanced English (able to participate in technical spoken conversation)
- Attention to detail
- Problem-solving and creativity
- Adaptability and continuous learning
You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you ride one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll feel proud. If you're ready for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!
Note
As a global company, we are an equal opportunities employer and celebrate diversity in the 63 countries where we operate. We are committed to creating an inclusive work environment for all.
