Job description
Te Roopu Taurima is the largest kaupapa Māori disability support provider supporting tāngata (people we serve) of all ethnicities with intellectual and physical impairments. Guided by tikanga Māori, we uphold the mana and unique identity of every individual we support, creating culturally safe, inclusive, and empowering environments for tāngata to live their best lives. We are looking for a Kaiāwhina (Support Worker) to support tāngata across a range of needs within our whare (residential homes) and community-based settings. This role is an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse group of people, providing person-centred support that promotes independence, autonomy, and well-being. As a Kaiāwhina, you will be part of a dynamic team that values collaboration, respect, and open communication. Your responsibilities will include: • Providing individualised support to tāngata with intellectual and physical impairments, including personal care, mobility assistance, and daily living skills. • Assisting tāngata with accessing community resources, services, and activities that promote social inclusion and participation. • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with tāngata, their whānau (families), and other stakeholders. • Participating in regular team meetings to share knowledge, skills, and best practices. • Maintaining accurate records of support provided and reporting any changes or concerns to the Team Leader. • Working collaboratively with other Kaiāwhina, Team Leaders, and external agencies to achieve individualised goals and outcomes. • Participating in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting people with disabilities, has a strong understanding of tikanga Māori, and can work effectively within a culturally diverse environment. If you have experience working with people with intellectual or physical impairments, and are committed to providing person-centred support, we would love to hear from you. What We Offer: • Competitive salary and benefits package. • Ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge. • A supportive and inclusive work environment that values diversity and promotes cultural safety. • The opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of tāngata with intellectual and physical impairments. If you are interested in this exciting opportunity, please submit your application, including your CV and cover letter, to [insert contact details].
