Director, Research and Strategic Initiatives

Based in Europe, the Eclipse Foundation is one of the world’s largest open source software foundations, with a proven track record of enabling community-led and industry-ready open source innovations used by millions of developers globally, earned over more than two decades. We host the Eclipse IDE, Adoptium, Software Defined Vehicle, Jakarta EE, Open VSX, and over 400 open source projects, including runtimes, tools, registries, specifications, and frameworks for cloud and edge applications, IoT, and other emerging technologies. As a Director of Research and Strategic Initiatives, you will be responsible for leading the development of strategic initiatives that drive innovation and growth within the Eclipse Foundation. This includes identifying and prioritizing research areas, collaborating with stakeholders to develop project proposals, and overseeing the execution of projects. You will also work closely with the Executive Director to ensure alignment with the organization’s overall strategy and goals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, open source, or related fields, as well as experience in leading cross-functional teams and developing strategic initiatives.
