Director of Commerce
Job description
The main objective of this role is to lead the integral commercial strategy of a luxury hotel in Santiago, ensuring sustainable revenue growth, strengthening brand positioning, and operational excellence in a highly demanding environment. The role involves strategic management of the Sales, Reservations, Leisure, Catering & Events area, working closely with Revenue Management and high articulation with international corporate teams.
The Director of Commerce will be responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the annual commercial strategy, leading a high-performance team, and representing the hotel in national and international markets, maintaining global luxury standards.
PRINCIPALES FUNCIONES:
- Design, implement, and manage the annual commercial strategy, aligned with corporate guidelines from the international group.
- Lead and develop a commercial team of over 10 people, including subdirectors, executives, coordinators, and teams for Catering, Events, Leisure, and Reservations.
- Define and execute the hotel's sales strategy, ensuring annual budget compliance, financial KPIs, occupancy, and revenue targets.
- Collaborate closely with Revenue Management to establish pricing strategies, segmentation, forecasting, and commercial direction.
- Supervise reservation operations, guaranteeing high standards of precision, service, and inventory control.
- Participate in the creation and implementation of integrated marketing campaigns with Marketing, ensuring consistency with the hotel's positioning.
- Develop strategic commercial alliances with luxury, lifestyle, culture, and entertainment brands.
- Represent the hotel at international fairs, roadshows, sales trips, corporate events, and global business networks.
- E nsure the correct execution of commercial reports, weekly/monthly forecasts, and strategic presentations for General Management and owners.
- Monitor local and international market evolution, evaluating opportunities, risks, pricing, and competitive strategies.
- E nsure operational excellence through constant presence in hotel areas: event participation, menu reviews, gastronomic activities, and key experiences for guests.
- Vigilant compliance with quality and sustainability audits, maintaining international luxury standards.
- Participate actively in the Executive Committee (ExCom), contributing to strategic decisions and transversal operational coordination.
- E nsure timely reports to the international corporate office, maintaining fluid communication with global support and audit teams.
Requirements
- Degree in Hotel Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Marketing, or related field.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in commercial roles at luxury hotels, ideally within international chains.
- Proven experience leading high-performance commercial teams with a focus on sales, revenue, and strategic management.
- International work experience (working in different countries) highly valued.
- Advanced English proficiency; Italian language skills are a plus.
- Solid knowledge of MICE, corporate, and leisure segments, as well as global distribution channels.
- Advanced management of hotel systems (Opera, Delphi), corporate CRM tools, and commercial analysis tools.
- High analytical and financial capabilities: forecast creation, projections, revenue analysis, and cost management.
- L eadership skills with empathy, humility, and a service-oriented approach, with cultural sensitivity and luxury standards.
- Ability to operate in demanding environments, with accountability, execution speed, and adaptation to global audits.
- Availability for international relocation (Chile) and frequent travel to fairs, events, and strategic markets.
