Director – Lead Mainframe Technology and Governance

Position Overview Role Description Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure Compute is establishing a Mainframe tower in India as part of the bank’s broader Compute strategy and Mainframe transformation agenda. This role is accountable for building and leading the India-based capability across Bangalore and Pune, covering all aspects of mainframe technology and governance, including architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive mainframe strategy that aligns with the bank’s overall IT strategy, ensuring seamless integration with other systems and technologies. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and maintaining a deep understanding of Deutsche Bank’s mainframe technology landscape and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance business value. • Collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement a comprehensive mainframe governance framework that ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. • Building and leading a high-performing team of mainframe professionals in India, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring to ensure they have the skills and knowledge needed to deliver exceptional results. • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including business leaders, IT teams, and vendors, to ensure effective communication and collaboration. • Staying up-to-date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mainframe technology and governance, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement within the organization. • Ensuring that all mainframe-related projects and initiatives are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. • Providing thought leadership and expertise to the organization, contributing to the development of mainframe strategies, architectures, and solutions. The ideal candidate will have: • A strong background in mainframe technology, with a deep understanding of z/OS, COBOL, JCL, and other relevant technologies. • Proven experience in leading and managing teams of mainframe professionals, with a track record of delivering high-quality results. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex technical issues and develop effective solutions. • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred.
