Director, Institute of AgeCare Research (IAR)
Job description
Reports to: Chief Operating Officer Team: Researchers Location : New Delhi Tenure: 3 years (annual contract, renewable based on performance and budget availability) The Director will serve as the architect and leader of the Institute of AgeCare Research (IAR), driving the creation, growth, and long-term success of HelpAge India's interdisciplinary research center for ageing and age care. This position requires a professional committed to shaping the Institute’s culture, establishing its operational infrastructure, securing funding, and developing a robust research agenda. The Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Institute's operations, including research projects, personnel management, financial oversight, and external relations. Key Responsibilities: * **Strategic Leadership:** * Develop and implement a comprehensive strategic plan for IAR, aligning it with HelpAge India's overall mission and goals. * Provide visionary leadership and direction to the Institute's research activities. * Foster a collaborative and innovative research environment. * Represent the Institute at national and international forums. * **Research and Program Development:** * Oversee the development and execution of high-quality research projects related to ageing and age care. * Identify and secure funding opportunities for research projects. * Establish and maintain relationships with research partners and collaborators. * Ensure the timely completion and dissemination of research findings. * **Operational Management:** * Manage the Institute's budget and ensure efficient resource allocation. * Oversee personnel management, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations. * Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the smooth operation of the Institute. * Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical guidelines. * **External Relations and Fundraising:** * Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and academic institutions. * Develop and implement fundraising strategies to secure financial support for the Institute. * Represent the Institute to the public and promote its activities. Qualifications: * A doctoral degree in a relevant field, such as gerontology, public health, social sciences, or a related discipline. * Minimum of 10 years of experience in research, including experience in a leadership role. * Proven track record of securing funding for research projects. * Strong leadership, management, and communication skills. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Experience in working with diverse teams. * Familiarity with the Indian context of ageing and age care.
