Job description
About Alta Ares
Alta Ares is an air defense Neoprime. We build AI-guided interceptors to counter drones and cruise missiles, along with the software platform that powers them.
Our customers are NATO-aligned militaries and defense institutions, and our systems are regularly deployed during live exercises and operational demonstrations across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Founded in 2024, we have grown to 90 people, raised over $60M, and increased revenue 40× this year. We are now entering a new phase of international expansion, industrial scaling, fundraising, and product development.
Within the technical team, you will design the mechanical parts and sub-assemblies of our products using CAD, for our drones and their onboard equipment. Your daily tasks will involve modeling with Fusion 360 and Solidworks: mechanisms and 3D printed parts, integration of electronic components, and complete assemblies.
You will rapidly iterate on designs based on prints and tests, and you will produce the drawings, bills of materials, and assembly documents for validated versions.
Main Missions
CAD Design (core activity: 70%)
Design and model parts and sub-assemblies using Fusion 360 and Solidworks: structures, casings, mounts, fasteners, interfaces
Design 3D printed mechanisms: hinges, latches, clips, moving parts
Integrate electronic components into CAD: placement of boards, motors, ESCs, batteries, and sensors, cable routing, cooling, accessibility for maintenance
Apply FDM and other process design rules: orientation, thicknesses, assembly clearances and tolerances, inserts, support limitation
Structure assemblies (parameterization, reusable components) to facilitate future modifications
Manage CAD file versions
Create parametric and modifiable designs
Rapid Prototyping (15%)
Execute short design → 3D print → test → correction cycles
Prepare prints using OrcaSlicer and assemble prototypes
Evolve designs based on feedback from printing and testing
Drawings and Production Documentation (10%)
Create drawings and bills of materials for validated parts and sub-assemblies
Participate in writing assembly procedures and instructions
Participate in modifications of wiring diagrams
Testing (5%)
Participate in validation tests: bench, ground, and, where applicable, supervised flight tests
Regularly present progress to the technical team
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience
Associate's or Bachelor's degree (BTS CPRP or CPI, BUT GMP, professional license) in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics
Technical Skills
Good command of a 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Fusion and SolidWorks (CATIA or others)
Design of mechanisms and assemblies
Design rules for FDM 3D printing; experience with OrcaSlicer or another slicer
Drawing, dimensioning, and tolerancing
Basics in embedded electronics: reading schematics, wiring, soldering
Advantages
Knowledge of the drone world (multirotor, fixed-wing, ArduPilot / PX4)
Notions of aerodynamics (lift, drag, airfoils, propellers)
Personal or club projects in drones, robotics, or 3D printing (CAD portfolio appreciated)
Interest in aeronautics, space, or defense
Personal Qualities
Enjoys prototyping and hands-on work, and well-executed CAD
Rigor and attention to detail, essential in a defense context where part reliability is critical
Autonomy, proactive, and team spirit
