Overview Job Purpose: The Department of Police Oversight and Community Safety, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for suitably qualified and competent individual to offer practical legal guidance to the Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety and departmental management on the regulatory functions of the Department and the Western Cape Liquor Authority, while providing strategic direction for stakeholder engagement in these areas. Minimum Requirements An appropriate 4 year LLB degree or equivalent qualification in law; A minimum of 5 years post-admission experience as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa; Proven track record of providing legal advice and guidance to senior management and/or government officials; Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Strong analytical and research skills; Familiarity with the Western Cape Liquor Authority's regulatory framework and relevant legislation; Knowledge of the Department's regulatory functions and responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Provide legal advice and guidance to the Minister of Police Oversight and Community Safety and departmental management on the regulatory functions of the Department and the Western Cape Liquor Authority; Develop and implement strategies for stakeholder engagement in areas related to the Department's regulatory functions; Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including government officials, law enforcement agencies, and community organizations; Provide input into policy development and implementation; Conduct research and analysis on legal and regulatory matters affecting the Department and the Western Cape Liquor Authority; Identify and mitigate potential risks and conflicts of interest; Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
