Deputy Chief Accountant

We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Deputy Chief Accountant to join our finance team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, multinational production environment, where your expertise in taxation, financial reporting, and team leadership will have a direct impact on our business operations and compliance standards.

As Deputy Chief Accountant, you will:

• Ensure compliance with all tax-related policies, legal requirements, and corporate procedures (CIT, VAT, WHT, SAF-T, etc.)
• Oversee the preparation and timely submission of VAT returns, e-invoicing records, and other statutory reports
• Coordinate and manage external audits, including documentation and communication with authorities (ANAF, local tax offices)
• Monitor and implement financial controls, reconciliation processes, and ledger accuracy
• Lead a team of accountants by setting clear goals, conducting performance evaluations, and encouraging professional development
• Collaborate with departments such as Logistics and Legal to manage VAT exemptions, inventory accounting, and process improvements
• Conduct tax risk assessments and support strategic tax planning
• Propose and implement accounting process improvements in line with IFRS, RO GAAP, and best practices
• Ensure documentation accuracy and internal compliance for all financial operations

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Chief or Deputy Chief Accountant in a multinational environment
• Strong understanding of RO GAAP, IFRS, and extensive direct and indirect tax knowledge
• Proven experience in production or manufacturing companies is highly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in SAP ERP and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• Fluent in English (both written and verbal)
• Demonstrated people management skills and the ability to lead by example
• High level of integrity, accuracy, and accountability
