Deployment Services Officer

Mō te tūnga | About the role At the New Zealand Defence Force, our people don't serve alone. Behind every deployment is a network of whānau, and communities who carry the load at home. We are seeking a Deployment Services Officer (DSO) to play a vital role in supporting that network - before, during, and after deployment. Based at Linton Military Camp, working across the country, you'll work alongside military and civilian teams to deliver an integrated wellness approach, supporting our personnel and their families. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives, while developing your skills and expertise in a dynamic environment. Key responsibilities: • Provide deployment support services to Defence Force personnel and their families, ensuring they receive the necessary assistance before, during, and after deployment. • Work closely with military and civilian teams to deliver an integrated wellness approach, focusing on physical and mental health, family well-being, and community engagement. • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including Defence Force personnel, their families, and community leaders. • Identify and address gaps in current support services, working collaboratively with internal and external partners to develop innovative solutions. • Provide guidance and support to Defence Force personnel and their families, helping them navigate the deployment process and access available resources. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, psychology, human services). • Proven experience working with Defence Force personnel or similar populations, preferably in a support role. • Strong understanding of the Defence Force culture and values. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of initiative and self-motivation. • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
