Demand Planning Manager - Groceries

About the team: Careem Grocery is on a mission to reinvent the way people shop for grocery, pharmacy and retail products. As an exciting new vertical within Careem (a startup within a startup), were in the early stages of building our product and have plenty of interesting and fundamental challenges to solve in order to achieve our ambitious growth goals in this burgeoning space. What you will do: Demand Forecasting: Utilize historical sales data, market trends, and customer insights to develop accurate demand forecasts at various levels of granularity (e.g., product, category, store) to support inventory planning and supply chain optimization. Forecasting Process: Own the end-to-end forecasting process, including data collection, analysis, model building, and performance monitoring. Forecast Accuracy: Continuously monitor forecast accuracy and identify areas for improvement. Implement corrective actions to minimize forecast errors. Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, marketing, and procurement, to gather relevant information and align on demand plans. Inventory Management: Collaborate with the inventory team to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste, ensuring product availability while managing costs. Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP): Participate in the S&OP process, presenting forecasts and providing insights to support decision-making. Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on forecast performance, inventory levels, and key metrics. Analyze trends and provide actionable recommendations. System & Tools: Implement and maintain demand planning tools and systems to streamline forecasting processes. What you'll need: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics, Statistics, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or related roles within the grocery or retail industry. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends. Proficiency in forecasting methodologies and techniques. Experience with statistical modeling and forecasting software. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools. Experience with S&OP processes. Bonus points if you have: Experience with demand planning software (e.g., Blue Yonder, SAP APO). Experience in e-commerce or quick-commerce.
