Deckhand

Required is a deckhand/fishing hand for the West Coast Deep Sea Crustacean Fishery based mainly out of Geraldton WA.

Permanent residency status is required for this position.

The vessel sometimes works out of Denham WA and therefore living on board the vessel is necessary.

Candidates must be prepared for trips offshore for up to three days in duration.

Successful applicants may be required to travel between Geraldton and Denham.

The suitable person must have at least one year of commercial fishing experience and their own transport. They must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently and be self motivated.

A moderate level of fitness is important to be able to perform the duties required of this role.

It will be necessary to pass regular drug testing.

Main duties include:

Preparing pot lines and bait, setting and assisting with hauling pots/gear.

Removing and sorting crabs, stowing the catch and gear.

Some maintenance of pots and rope will be required.

Salary is between $80,000-$90,000 annually depending on experience.
