As a Datacenter Engineer (all genders), you will manage our own data centers as well as the data center environments of our customers from the healthcare and system house sectors. You will work at the interface of virtualization, storage, backup, and hardware operation, ensuring secure, performant, and highly available operation of business-critical IT infrastructures.

The position can be filled either full-time or part-time.

• Virtualization & Migration Projects: You will operate and further develop our VMware vSphere and Proxmox environments. You will also plan and support migration and consolidation projects, ensuring a secure and as interruption-free as possible transfer of workloads.
• Storage & SAN Management: You will administer our storage and SAN infrastructures based on Fibre Channel, iSCSI, and NAS technologies. You will also support the further development of modern storage architectures in virtualized environments.
• Backup & Data Resilience: You will be responsible for backup, restore, and recovery concepts based on Veeam and ensure the recoverability of business-critical systems. Regular recovery tests and the continuous improvement of our resilience strategies are also part of your area of responsibility.
• Hardware & Firmware Lifecycle: You will manage the physical infrastructure in our own data centers as well as in our customers' data center environments. You will monitor, maintain, and modernize server and storage systems throughout their entire lifecycle.
• Extended Network Connectivity: You will configure complex virtual networks and ensure high-performance connectivity for host and storage systems.
• Automation & Core Services: You will automate recurring operational tasks using scripts and suitable automation tools. You will also manage central infrastructure services in the Windows and Linux environments.
• Monitoring & Operations: You will monitor the stability, performance, and availability of the infrastructure, analyze disruptions, and implement changes according to established operational processes. Clear documentation of your systems and changes is a matter of course for you.

• Education & Experience: Completed IT degree or an IT apprenticeship with several years of experience in operating data center infrastructures
• Virtualization Know-how: Comprehensive experience with VMware vSphere as well as initial practical experience with or strong interest in Proxmox VE
• Storage Systems (SAN/NAS): Solid knowledge in the area of FC protocols, iSCSI, SMB/NFS, and ideally initial contact with Ceph or ZFS.
• Backup Expertise: Very good knowledge of Veeam Backup & Replication; experience with immutability concepts or Microsoft 365 backups is an advantage
• Operating Systems & Basic Services: Good administrative knowledge in Linux (RHEL/AlmaLinux, Debian) as well as in Windows Server environments (Active Directory, DNS/DHCP)
• Automation: Experience with PowerShell/PowerCLI or Bash for scripting and process optimization
• Work Style & Mindset: Strong problem-solving skills, a high standard for documentation and change management, and enjoyment of collaboration in interdisciplinary teams
• Language Skills: Very good German and good English skills, both written and spoken
