Job Summary

We are hiring a Database Analyst / Report Writer to support an AWS-based data warehouse and drive data-driven decisions across the business. Maintain, optimize, and expand a Medallion Architecture (Bronze → Silver → Gold) and build dynamic Power BI reporting. Lead migration and modernization of legacy Microsoft SQL Server workloads into AWS services such as Glue, S3, Athena, and Redshift. Strong SQL performance tuning is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead migration of Microsoft SQL Server databases to AWS data warehouse services (Glue, S3, Athena, Redshift)

  • Refactor and optimize T-SQL for Athena or Redshift SQL compatibility and performance

  • Design, build, and maintain ETL pipelines that extract from on-prem SQL Server, transform with AWS Glue (PySpark or SQL), and load into S3 Medallion layers

  • Model cloud-native schemas using Glue Catalog and Athena; manage partitioning and schema evolution

  • Profile and tune complex SQL across SQL Server and AWS using execution plans and indexing

  • Oversee ingestion using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and Glue jobs; ensure accuracy and completeness

  • Manage S3 data lake layers and version control across Raw or Bronze, Silver, and Gold

  • Validate data integrity and lineage; prevent duplication and schema drift

  • Build and enhance Power BI datasets and dashboards connected to the Gold layer

  • Implement and manage Power BI gateway and incremental refresh

  • Create reusable DAX measures and consistent BI data models

  • Translate business KPIs and ad hoc needs into scalable BI solutions

  • Collaborate with DevOps on AWS performance, IAM, and permissions for Glue or Athena

  • Implement data governance with Lake Formation, CloudTrail, Secrets Manager, and Config

  • Integrate external APIs and third-party data sources

  • Track work in Jira and contribute to architecture reviews and roadmap planning

  • Monitor ETL performance and troubleshoot discrepancies; drive continuous improvement
