Database Administrator / DBA (m/f/d) - PostgreSQL & MariaDB

• You have successfully completed a degree in Computer Science (Business Informatics) or a comparable technical education in the IT field with several years of in-depth professional experience in database administration.
• You possess in-depth expertise in the administration and optimization of MariaDB and PostgreSQL.
• You have a pronounced understanding of the architectural dependencies between complex, Java-based enterprise applications (such as ServiceNow) and the relational database layer.
• You have practical experience in building highly available database architectures, replication mechanisms, and backup and recovery strategies in a cloud environment.
• You practice an agile way of working (Scrum, Kanban) and understand how to integrate infrastructure requirements as "Infrastructure as Code" (IaC) into CI/CD pipelines.
• You have good communication skills as well as very good German and good English skills.
• You are characterized by a quick grasp of concepts as well as a solution-oriented and independent way of working.

• You are responsible for the administration, scaling, and performance optimization of our existing MariaDB and PostgreSQL clusters, which serve as the current database backend for our ServiceNow customer instances.
• You are accustomed to anticipating conceptual work and technologically plan and drive the introduction and transition to PostgreSQL in order to make our platform architecturally future-proof.
• You ensure the high SLA requirements of our Sovereign Cloud Services, especially High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery, and minimal database replication latency.
• You actively work in a team on the automation of provisioning, cloning processes, and self-healing mechanisms and have experience with Unix, Git, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.
• You monitor database performance (e.g., SQL Response Times) in direct dependence on the Java-based ServiceNow application nodes as well as proactive troubleshooting. Participation in on-call duty is a matter of course for you.
• You implement security hardening and regular patching of the database systems in compliance with our compliance requirements (BSI C5, ISO 27001, and others).
