Job description
Digitalization is your passion and you burn for sustainability?
Then shape the digital transformation of the recycling industry with us!
The Eggersmann Group is an internationally active group of companies with over 50 years of experience in environmental technologies and more than 1,300 employees worldwide. As a leading provider of recycling plants and machines, we drive forward future-oriented solutions for a functioning circular economy. To fully exploit the potential of digitalization and automation in the recycling industry, we have founded our digital innovation hub in Aachen as a corporate start-up. With ESA app, our modular IIoT software, we optimize the operation of recycling plants and machines through data analysis and machine learning.
Your Mission:
You make machine data usable: With machine learning models, you recognize unusual patterns and deviations in the time series of our recycling plants. This way, you help to detect deviations at an early stage and to support root cause analysis and process optimization. You accompany the entire journey from data analysis through the development and validation of your models to their integration into the product – in close coordination with our practical experts.
Your Tasks:
You develop, train, and validate machine learning models with a focus on anomaly detection in time series in maintainable Python code, including the use of coding assistants.
You analyze and visualize complex time series data to uncover patterns, causes, and optimization potential.
You deploy models into productive operation and set up initial monitoring.
You develop data models and write efficient SQL queries for relational databases.
You work closely with our subject matter experts and translate operational challenges into data-based solutions, including the use of coding assistants.
Your Profile:
You have completed a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
You bring at least two years of professional experience in Industrial Data Science or a comparable position.
You have sound knowledge of machine learning and statistics, ideally with experience in time series analysis or anomaly detection.
You have very good Python skills, especially with object-oriented programming and scikit-learn, pandas, and NumPy.
You are experienced in working with SQL and designing relational databases, for example with PostgreSQL.
Good software development practices such as Git and code reviews are a matter of course for you.
You think analytically and approach complex problems in a structured manner.
You are willing to work on-site in Aachen regularly; mobile working is possible on the other days.
You have good English skills, both written and spoken.
This is a Plus
Practical experience with cloud providers like AWS and cloud-based data or machine learning applications.
Experience in handling industrial real-time machine data.
Initial experience with AI-supported programming tools like Claude or GitHub Copilot.
Benefits:
Attractive remuneration, permanent contract, and 30 days of vacation.
Responsibility from day one with plenty of room for design and impact.
Modern offices in Aachen with direct connection to the digitalHUB ecosystem – including access to workshops and networking events.
Flexible working hours and location-independent work (e.g., from home).
A lived start-up culture under the umbrella of a successful, owner-managed group of companies.
Sustainability awareness, team spirit, and a family-like culture are included.
