Job description

Do you want to do more than just process data, but develop a modern data platform that enables analysis, reporting, and data-driven decisions across the entire company?

Then this position might be just right for you.

Our client, a dynamically growing e-commerce service agency in Berlin, is one of Germany's most successful Amazon sellers and distributes thousands of products.

For the further expansion of the Data & Analytics landscape, we are looking for a personality who develops modern data architectures and actively shapes the path towards a data-driven organization.

Your Benefits

  • Attractive remuneration: A performance-related fixed salary that matches your experience and qualifications.

  • Flexible working: Hybrid work model with 2 home office days, a 40-hour week, flexible hours with a start time between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM.

  • Long-term security: Permanent employment contract and 30 days of vacation in an economically successful and future-proof company.

  • Development: Whether professional or personal – your development will be actively promoted and supported long-term.

  • Modern working environment: Look forward to a modern office in the Berlin district of Lichtenberg.

  • Mobility: Whether by public transport or by car – benefit from a subsidized job ticket or free parking spaces directly at the office.

  • Team culture: Flat hierarchies, open communication, a lived informal culture ('Du' culture), and regular team and company events like 'Grill & Chill' ensure a strong sense of community.

  • Catering: Free drinks and fresh fruit are available to you at all times during your workday.

  • Employee benefits: Benefit from attractive employee discounts on the product range and other corporate benefits.

Your Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer, you will develop and operate modern data platforms in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring that high-quality data is reliably available for analytics, reporting, and machine learning applications.

  • Data Engineering: Conception, development, and continuous improvement of modern data pipelines in Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Fabric.

  • Data Quality: Ensuring high data quality, completeness, and reproducibility, as well as implementing efficient incremental data loading processes.

  • Data Integration: Development and maintenance of efficient ETL/ELT processes and API-based data integrations.

  • Platform Operation: Development of robust monitoring, logging, and error handling concepts, as well as continuous optimization of performance, costs, and data workflows.

  • Data Architecture: Participation in building a scalable data architecture including test, staging, and production environments, as well as modern technologies like CI/CD, Fabric Pipelines, dbt, or Airflow.

  • Collaboration: Close coordination with the Head of Data & Analytics and Data Analysts to provide high-quality data for Power BI dashboards and machine learning models.

Your Profile as a Data Engineer

  • At least 3-5 years of professional experience in building and operating data pipelines or data platforms – ideally at a senior level; motivated mid-level profiles are also welcome.

  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data Services, especially Data Factory and/or Azure Synapse; ideally complemented by experience with Microsoft Fabric.

  • Very good knowledge of SQL and Python, especially in the area of ETL/ELT processes and automation.

  • Experience in data modeling, ideally with Bronze, Silver, and Gold layer architectures.

  • Knowledge in data quality management as well as in monitoring, logging, and performance optimization.

  • Experience in self-reliant implementation of technical projects, as well as a structured, solution-oriented approach to work.

  • Strong team orientation and enjoyment of collaboration in an international environment.

  • Fluent German or English skills. If German skills are lower (from B1), very good English skills are required.

Nice-to-haves – every additional know-how is a plus:

  • Experience with incremental loading processes and delta processing.

  • Experience in data integration for Power BI and working with semantic models.

  • Knowledge in the e-commerce or Amazon environment.

  • Experience with API-based data integrations.

  • Knowledge of CI/CD, e.g., with GitHub Actions or Azure DevOps.

  • Interest in Machine Learning and building data-driven organizations.

  • Experience with Openbridge.
