About the Client Our client is one of the leading universal banks in Poland, belonging to an international financial group. The organization offers comprehensive banking services for individual and business clients, developing modern solutions in the areas of everyday banking, financing, and payment systems. About the Project The person in this role will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining modern, scalable event-driven solutions. The platform is based on Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect, kSQL, Kafka Streams, Spring Boot, Quarkus/graalVM, and NoSQL and analytical services (MongoDB, GraphQL, Apache Iceberg). We are looking for someone with solid backend programming experience, who understands DevOps principles and can implement solutions in cloud and on-premise environments. Work Mode Service provision takes place in a hybrid model (1 day per month working from the Client's office in Wrocław). Project Execution Will Be Facilitated By You * Minimum 3 years of practical experience working with production environments * Very good knowledge of Apache Kafka, including brokers, topics, producers, consumers, logs, and replication mechanisms * Practical and very good knowledge of Kafka Streams and kSQL * Experience in configuring and developing Kafka Connect, both with ready-made and custom connectors * Very good knowledge of Java and the Spring framework, particularly Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Security, and Spring Data * Experience in designing document schemas, indexing, and optimizing queries in NoSQL databases, especially MongoDB * Experience in implementing GraphQL services – defining schemas, creating resolvers, and integrating with the data layer * Basic knowledge of Apache Iceberg, including table formats and metadata management mechanisms * Knowledge of Java and Python * Experience with observability solutions: Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry * Knowledge of security aspects: TLS, SASL, ACL, data encryption at rest and in transit * Experience working with Scrum/Kanban methodologies and Jira and Confluence tools Your Contribution to the Project * Designing, prototyping, and developing event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka, Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, and kSQL * Defining data schemas in Avro, Protobuf, and JSON Schema and managing their versioning * Creating microservices in Spring Boot that handle Kafka events – producers, consumers, and stream processing mechanisms * Building a GraphQL API layer using Quarkus/GraalVM, exposing data stored in MongoDB * Configuring and developing Kafka Connect connectors (source/sink) for MongoDB, S3, Apache Iceberg, and other databases and systems * Implementing data transformations using Single Message Transforms (SMT) and custom converters * Automating the creation and management of configurations for topics, Kafka Connect connectors, kSQL streams, and Kafka Streams applications * Implementing monitoring and observability: Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Vector, ELK * Diagnosing issues related to replication, latencies, and event processing * Optimizing Kafka configurations, including partitioning, retention, and ISR levels * Collaborating with Data Engineers, DevOps engineers, and analysts in an Agile environment (Scrum/Kanban) * Sharing knowledge within the team by conducting workshops and creating technical documentation This Is How We Will Take Care of You By joining Edge One Solutions, you receive full support in your professional and personal development, giving you a real chance to build a career according to your own goals.
