Data plays an increasingly important role in the work of the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. Behind every analysis, report, and decision lies a solid data structure. As a Data Modeler, you ensure that this structure is correct. You bring order to complex information flows and ensure that data remains reliable, traceable, and usable for the organization. In this way, you make a direct contribution to the information position of the Marechaussee.

As a Data Modeler, you work on the foundations of information provision within an environment where reliability and security are essential. You translate information needs from operations into robust data models and ensure that data is structured in a consistent and future-proof manner.

In this role, you will be involved in, among other things:

• Designing and maintaining conceptual, logical, and physical data models that align with the organization's information needs;
• Translating data issues from operational teams into clear and workable data structures;
• Improving existing data models to enhance performance, scalability, and reliability;
• Ensuring that data models comply with applicable guidelines, security requirements, and legislation such as the GDPR;
• Documenting data models, definitions, and processes to ensure knowledge and structure are secured within the organization;
• Coordinating with other parts of the Ministry of Defence to ensure data exchange and standards align properly.

• A relevant HBO (Higher Professional Education) degree, for example in (business) IT, data science, or information science.
• Knowledge of relational databases, data architecture, and SQL.
• Experience with ER modeling, data modeling software (such as SAP PowerDesigner, Microsoft Visio, or erwin Data Modeler).
• Insight into big data, business data, and physical data models.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Flexibility and the skill to operate in a complex, rapidly changing environment.

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar) operates at the intersection of Justice and Defence. Careful handling of data is central to this: access and authorization must always be linked to task and responsibility. A sound design of data management is therefore crucial.

Your activities will take place within the National Tactical Command (LTC), which executes the border police task, guarding & securing, and international military police tasks at a tactical level. Within the staff of the LTC, the Data Management department is responsible for the coordination and assurance of data quality. You will work here to support the BICC and Metadata Management teams.
