Data Governance Specialist
Job description
We are looking for a Data Governance Specialist, who will be responsible for developing and implementing a data governance framework that ensures quality, consistency, security, and compliance throughout the lifecycle of corporate data. He/She will act as a link between technical and business areas, promoting good practices through policies, tools, and training programs.
Main Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of policies and standards to create, document, and apply policies, standards, processes, and procedures for governing corporate data.
- Data quality management and classification, identifying, classifying, and establishing quality standards for data assets. Conduct monitoring and establish quality metrics.
- Data dictionary management, glossaries, metadata, and traceability to ensure transparency and governability.
- Implementing access controls, security policies, ensuring compliance with regulations such as GDPR or similar.
- Captaining teams, disseminating good practices, and acting as a liaison between technical and business areas.
- Supervising the effectiveness of the program, reporting metrics, and proposing improvements in governance processes.
- Aiding in selecting the stack to automate, enable, and federate data governance.
Requirements
- Intermediate-Advanced level of technical English (B1-B2).
- Between 1 and 5 years in roles related to data governance, quality management or similar. Experience with specific tools is desirable.
- Mastery of data policies, quality, metadata, traceability, security, privacy, and applicable regulations.
- Effective communication, interfunctional collaboration, project management, and analytical capacity.
- Familiarity with data catalogs (e.g., Collibra), software for quality or metadata management.
- Experience in implementing data governance plans and norms such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA, Right to Know, etc.
Plus / Desirable
- Knowledge of SQL databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and NoSQL (MongoDB, Redis).
- Experience with data engineering processes (ETL/ELT)
- Use of orchestration tools (Airflow, N8N, etc)
- Certifications in privacy or governance: CIPM, CIPP, CIPT or AIGP (launched by IAPP in 2024).
- Familiarity with norms such as GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA or others relevant to the sector.
- Knowledge of AI Governance. Understanding of ethical governance of AI, inclusion of AI in policies and traceability of models.
- Participation in defining roles, organizational structure, and roadmaps for governance.
