Job description

The Data Platform team at DECATHLON is looking for its future Data Engineering Manager

At the heart of the Decathlon Digital entity, we are looking for our future Data Engineering Manager to join the Data Factory teams.

This technology platform, global to the entire group internationally, supports the development of Data usage at Decathlon, from revenue calculation to assisting in the design of innovative products.

We operate a cutting-edge Modern Data Stack, with a Lakehouse as its focal point. Our mission? To guarantee the scalability, automation, and excellence of development practices for all our communities (Data Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists).

The Managed Tools entity is the forge of our stack. It is responsible for the availability, robustness, and scalability of transformation (compute and orchestration), exposure, and AI tools for the entire group. 

 

Your future playground 

Within the Data Factory and the Managed Tools entity, you will be the manager of the Data Transformation team. 

You will be responsible for a team of Platform Data Engineers and PMs

Together, you will maintain, evolve, and promote data transformation tools:

Databricks as the computing stack

Astronomer for orchestration

You will also be responsible for guiding users towards the best practices you will have defined 

 

Your future contribution

As a manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a team of 7 engineers and 1 PM: 

Your main missions will be:

  • Team Leadership: Define the technological vision and co-build the team's roadmap.
  • Delivery & Quality: Ensure quality delivery, respecting deadlines and our governance indicators.
  • Human Support: Bridge the gap between the organization's vision and daily operations, focusing on the individual growth of your teammates to support the team in its skill development. 
  • Management: Manage the budget related to the team and its tools, respecting the 2026 framework and anticipating 2027.

Ensure a Decathlon management framework for team members: individual mission, Individual Development Plan, as well as performance reviews to support the team in its skill development.

👤 Your profile

You are the ideal candidate if:

  • You have solid experience in managing technical teams (Data or Cloud), ideally in an international or large-scale context.
  • You have a strong understanding of the challenges of a Modern Data Stack and have already worked with tools like Databricks and/or Airflow / Astronomer.
  • You know how to balance strategic vision (roadmap, budget) with operational excellence (delivery, agility).
  • You are recognized for your human qualities, your listening skills, and your ability to grow your teams.
