About the role

As a Data Engineer at Watercare, you will design, build, and maintain data solutions that enable high-quality insights across the organisation. You’ll work collaboratively within the Data & Analytics team to support Watercare’s data platforms, ensuring they operate efficiently, securely, and at scale.

In this hands-on technical role, you will:

  • Build, integrate and maintain data pipelines, warehouses, and ingestion processes.

  • Evaluate and cleanse datasets to support accurate reporting and analytics.

  • Support the delivery of data models, frameworks, and governance practices.

  • Enhance data collection procedures and monitor performance of data infrastructure.

  • Work closely with business owners to understand data needs, ensuring high-quality and secure data delivery.

About you

To be considered for this role you will:

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.

  • 5+ years’ experience with ETL tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue).

  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with dbt, Snowflake, Snowpark or similar.

  • Strong scripting skills in SQL and Python.

  • 3+ years working on cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks).

Desirable

  • Experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).

  • Experience working with data lakes and modern data architectures.

  • Agile delivery experience.
