As a Data Engineer at the Marechaussee, you will automate processes on Milestone XProtect – THE platform that brings together cameras, sensors, and systems into one powerful whole.
Not just a standalone application, but an ecosystem that runs from data center to mobile command centers and rapid response vehicles that are operational anywhere in the Netherlands within two hours. You will help build a platform that continuously delivers sensor data to the entire organization. The scale, coherence, and impact? Impressive.
What will you do?
With your work, you will directly contribute to the safety of the Netherlands. The platform you help build and manage supports the Marechaussee in border surveillance, monitoring and securing vital objects, and responding during incidents and crises. Thanks to your knowledge and effort, colleagues in the field will have up-to-date and reliable information to make the right decisions in split seconds. Thus, every line of code, every automation, and every connection you make has a tangible impact on peace and security.
Your tasks are varied and technically challenging. Think of:
- Developing, managing, and automating the Sentinel platform, THE system that brings together sensor data for the entire Marechaussee.
- Building and maintaining data pipelines, connecting data sources, and transforming them into processable data.
- Implementing and optimizing solutions on Milestone XProtect and other connected applications.
- Designing robust OTAP environments and safely deploying systems to production.
- Developing automated monitoring and predictive analyses to ensure the platform's performance and availability.
- Analyzing and resolving complex incidents and disruptions, including Root Cause Analysis and applying self-healing solutions.
Why this is so special
What you develop makes a daily difference in places where technology and security meet. The systems you work on ensure that colleagues in the field know exactly what is happening — from the border crossing to a crisis location. You will help build an operational platform that must perform 24/7, under the most demanding conditions.
You will be working in an environment you won't find anywhere else: high-tech infrastructures, direct links between data and operations, and close collaboration with professionals who master their field to perfection. Every script, every automation, and every improvement you deliver contributes to the safety of the Netherlands. And that gives meaning to your work.
