Data Architect - Hybrid

Job description

Are you looking for a role as a Data Architect where you can truly make an impact on the Dutch healthcare sector? Do you want to design a modern data landscape from the ground up instead of drawing diagrams afterwards? At the Centrum Indicatiestelling Zorg (CIZ) in Utrecht, you will contribute to the digital transformation of our primary process at the intersection of data, IT architecture, privacy legislation, and AI.

What will you do?

The CIZ is undergoing a large-scale digital transformation. Themes such as AI, business rules, data separation, data quality, and data governance are central to this. As a Data Architect, you step in at a crucial moment. Your choices and architectural principles will determine how data within the CIZ is unlocked, utilized, and secured in the coming years.

Your concrete responsibilities:

  • Building the Foundation: You will design and structure the data architecture of the CIZ from scratch.
  • Implementing Data Separation: You will set up the design for data separation and data minimization within the current application landscape (crucial for legislation and regulations such as GDPR).
  • Translating Strategy: You will translate the organizational vision and strategic policy into concrete data and IT architectural principles (e.g., data mesh or hub-and-spoke concepts).
  • Increasing Data Maturity: You will work closely with the Data Office and the Data & Analytics team to elevate data maturity to a higher level.
  • Stakeholder Management: You will advise the board, management, project teams, and external chain partners on complex data issues.
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: You will liaise daily with solution architects, information analysts, data engineers, and policy advisors.

About the Team

You will strengthen an ambitious and modern architecture team that currently consists of 3 architects (Enterprise, Solution, and Cloud). The atmosphere is open, informal, and driven. Unique to our way of working is that we work according to the Docs & Diagrams-as-Code principle (such as PlantUML or Structurizr). Experience with code or a software engineering background is therefore a big plus. The team falls under the Policy & Framework Setting department: a strategic hub where collaboration, substance, and overview come together.

What do you bring?

  • University bachelor's or master's level of working and thinking (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, or Business Information Management) and at least 3-5 years of experience in a more demanding data role (e.g., as an Architect, Senior Data Engineer, Lead Information Analyst, or Data Modeler).
  • Knowledge of data architecture, data quality, and data governance (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK);
  • Experience with data modeling and metadata management;
  • Insight into complex processes, chains, and legislation and regulations, preferably within (semi-)governmental organizations;
  • Knowledge of or a background in data science and/or development.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and information provision;
  • Affinity with or experience in AI, NLP, knowledge or capability management is a plus;
  • Fluent Dutch in speaking and writing.

Your Profile

This role is an excellent fit for an experienced architect or an ambitious professional who sees this role as their next career step. You combine conceptual thinking with a pragmatic, results-oriented approach. You are a strong conversationalist and can clearly explain complex technical data structures to management and the board. Additionally, you bring a healthy dose of social drive; you want to purposefully use your IT skills for an organization with a public task in Dutch healthcare.

What do we offer you?

We offer a substantive, responsible, and meaningful job. A varied role in a dynamic work environment. We will help and facilitate you in your own development within your career and ambitions, including a personal development budget.

The employment conditions are:
Depending on education and experience, € 4,402 - € 6,390 per month (scale 60 cao CIZ) based on a 36-hour workweek.
