Data Analyst (m/f/d)

Full Time Entry Level

Job description

Our team, our way of working, and you

For our Analytics & Data Platforms department, which has almost 20 members, we are looking for a Data Engineer who enjoys driving digitalization within the ARD and its regional broadcasting corporations.
As part of an interdisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for key projects: from the implementation of the ARD-wide Data Mesh, to the efficient processing of clickstreams, and the provision of Data Marts for BI dashboards.
We strongly emphasize initiative and personal development. If you are not yet very familiar with a technology, you will learn it with our support through training-on-the-job. Since you will have more or less direct pub.tech colleagues around you, and personal interaction is very important to us, we maintain regular contact through direct one-on-one conversations, regular expert team meetings, and a pub.tech-Weekly where the entire company exchanges news and we create transparency between all departments. It is also important for you to know: we are very considerate of balancing private life, such as family and children, with work.
If, under these conditions, you are excited about shaping the digital future of public broadcasting, then this job is exactly right for you!

The following tasks await you with us

  • Ensure we measure the right things: Together with Product, Editorial, and Engineering, you will develop tracking and measurement concepts, define relevant key performance indicators (KPIs), and ensure that the necessary data is available completely, understandably, and reliably. You will be confident at the interface to technical data collection and will also work with SQL and structured datasets yourself.
  • Make data accessible and usable for teams: You will develop dashboards, reports, and analyses that allow teams to transparently measure success, identify developments early, and understand our target audiences respectfully and with nuance. As an analytical sparring partner, you will advise editorial and product teams on deriving concrete recommendations for action from data.
  • Turn usage patterns into real insights: You will analyze how people use ARD's digital content and products, and translate complex analytics and tracking data into understandable and actionable insights. This will help product and editorial teams make well-founded decisions and continuously develop digital offerings.

What you bring with you

  • Ideally, a completed university degree with a quantitative or analytical focus, e.g., in Business Informatics, Statistics, Mathematics, Social Sciences, or Economics, or a comparable qualification
  • Experience in analyzing and preparing large amounts of data as well as in handling digital usage and tracking data
  • Good knowledge of SQL (BigQuery) and ideally experience with the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and dbt.
  • Experience in creating reports and dashboards with BI and visualization tools, particularly experience with Power BI.
  • Understanding of tracking concepts, KPIs, and data quality as well as an interest in the interface with Product and Engineering
  • Strong analytical skills for solving complex data problems as well as pronounced communication and teamwork skills in an international environment (English and German at least C1)

What we offer

  • An unlimited employment contract with 31 days of vacation
  • An attractive, market-competitive salary
  • Plenty of scope for your own ideas and professional development
  • Diversity and equal opportunities
  • Participation in further training according to your personal interests and goals
  • Work with talented, creative, and multicultural teams
  • A workplace in the heart of Munich
  • Flexible working hours
  • Remote work within Germany and in some European countries
  • Mobility subsidy, Jobrad (company bike program), benefits for health and wellbeing

With us, appreciation, flat hierarchies, and an open feedback culture are at the forefront. Although we work a lot remotely, we place great importance on exchanging ideas regularly at team events and personal meetings in our Munich office. As signatories of the Charta der Vielfalt (Diversity Charter), we actively advocate for diversity, equal opportunities, and sustainability – in everything we do. This way, we create a work environment characterized by respect, openness, and understanding.
