In this role, you are primarily responsible for building and improving data solutions. You ensure that data is available, reliable, and usable for the organization by developing data pipelines, dashboards, and integrations.

At the same time, you will have the opportunity to help build the further development of AI within Rail Innovators Group. AI is a valuable addition to the role, but the foundation lies in data engineering and business intelligence.

You will work on diverse issues, from management information for the business to innovative AI applications that make processes smarter and more efficient.

Rail Innovators Group, founded in 2005 and based in Rotterdam, is an international specialist in rail freight transport. With over 250 rail professionals, we operate in 23 countries and transport more than 6 million tons of cargo annually.

Our modern fleet consists of high-quality locomotives, a wide range of wagons, and intermodal units. With these, we offer flexible, reliable, and sustainable transport solutions throughout Europe and beyond.

Through our four companies Raillogix, Rail Force One, Railrelease, and CWS, we manage the entire rail chain: from planning and traction to leasing and maintenance.

What will you do?

You will work on diverse data and AI issues that contribute to better decision-making, more efficient processes, and further digitalization of the organization. You will work from a backlog and roadmap, determining with the business which solutions add the most value. You will liaunt with various stakeholders, from finance and operations to management.

Specifically, this means you will:

• Build and maintain data pipelines

• Integrate and unlock various data sources

• Develop dashboards and reports that the business can use for steering

• Further professionalize and improve the data architecture

• Translate business questions into concrete data solutions

• Prioritize based on impact and business value

• Work within an Agile environment with bi-weekly sprints

• Actively contribute to the further AI maturity of the organization

Who are you?

Someone who is analytically strong, works independently, and gets energized by complex issues. You enjoy connecting technology and business and dare to think critically when an answer doesn't seem to be the right solution.

This suits someone who:

• Has a Bachelor's or Master's degree level of work and thinking

• Has completed a degree in IT, Computer Science, Business Information Technology, Econometrics, or similar

• Is strong in communication and easily liaises with various stakeholders

• Is analytical and problem-solving oriented

• Works independently, takes responsibility, and knows how to set priorities

• Has affinity with IT

• Has a good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written

Additionally, it would be a plus if you have experience with:

• Data Engineering, SQL, and ETL

• Business Intelligence

• AI solutions and tooling such as ChatGPT or Claude

• Agile or Scrum methodologies

What do we offer?

• The salary for this position is up to €5,000 gross per month, depending on your knowledge, level, and work experience

• You will receive 28 vacation days on a full-time basis, with the option to purchase 5 extra days

• In addition, you will receive a profit-dependent bonus scheme and benefit from an excellent pension scheme

• We offer flexible working hours and the possibility to work hybrid. You will work an average of two days per week at the office and the remaining days flexibly from home

• Travel expenses reimbursement of €0.23 per kilometer
