HITS.nrw is a newly founded, central IT service provider for the public universities in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Our mission: Together with the universities of applied sciences and the state art and music academies shape the future of university IT. To achieve this, we develop nationwide scalable services from the areas of Cloud, Cyber Security, Software, and IT Procurement. We ensure modern, secure, and efficient solutions – so that universities can focus on teaching, art, and science and sensitive data are protected as best possible.

In this role, you will work at the heart of our Security: You will analyze security incidents, operate central security systems, and actively develop our security architecture. While combining operational security expertise with the ability to shape new security services.

What awaits you

• Responsibility for analyzing and processing security events in 2nd-level support
• Safeguarding a stable and secure operation of central security systems (e.g. SIEM, monitoring, firewall) as well as their continuous further development
• Active participation in developing the security architecture in a modern cloud environment
• Taking over tasks in Identity & Access Management as well as Certificate Management
• Bringing in expertise in security tests, audits, and vulnerability analysis including deriving concrete improvement measures
• Closely cooperating with internal teams and external security partners as well as shaping security services

What you bring

• Completed IT training (e.g. Fachinformatiker/in), a study in the IT field (e.g. Informatik, Wirtschaftsinformatik) or equivalent qualification
• Experience in the area of IT Security, SOC, or system operation as well as experience with security tools (e.g. SIEM, monitoring, logging)
• Understanding of network and security concepts (e.g. firewalls, access controls, logging) as well as basic understanding of cloud infrastructure
• Experience in handling certificates or certificate management as well as Identity & Access Management (e.g. Active Directory, OpenLDAP)
• Structured, analytical working style as well as interest in security topics
• Very good German language skills and good English language skills
