Cybersecurity & Data Security Associate (Development Focus, International Scope)

Role Overview This is a structured development 12 month fixed-term opportunity for an early-career professional eager to gain experience in cybersecurity, data protection, and risk management within an international context, while being based in the Western Cape. As a Cybersecurity & Data Security Associate, you will be mentored by experienced professionals and gain practical exposure to various aspects of data security and cybersecurity. You will contribute to projects that enhance data protection, and work with international teams to support compliance with data privacy regulations. Key Responsibilities Contribute to the implementation of data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data loss prevention. Assist in the monitoring and analysis of security events and incidents. Support the development and maintenance of data security policies and procedures. Participate in risk assessments and vulnerability management activities. Assist in preparing reports and presentations on data security and compliance. Collaborate with international teams to support data privacy initiatives. Stay up-to-date with emerging cybersecurity threats and data protection regulations. Contribute to the development of security awareness training materials. Assist with incident response activities, including investigation and remediation. Skills & Experience Required Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent). Strong interest in cybersecurity, data protection, and risk management. Basic understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Experience with data security tools and technologies is a plus.
