Job description

Some people can talk pipe fittings and stock levels one minute, then jump on a forklift the next – and make it all look easy. If that's you, keep reading.

As the face of Hynds in Masterton, you'll be the person our customers across the civil, water, wastewater and drainage industries rely on. One minute you're sorting a quote at the counter, the next you're out in the yard picking an order or loading a truck. It's hands-on, it's varied, and it's the role that keeps our busy branch ticking.

Reporting to the Branch Manager, you'll bring the product know-how, the problem-solving, and the friendly service that keeps customers coming back.

What you'll be doing

  • Being the go-to at the front counter – advice, quotes, orders, and sorting queries on the spot
  • Running the yard – stock control, picking orders, cycle counts, and keeping the place tidy and safe
  • Loading and unloading trucks – helping customers load up (by hand or forklift)
  • Getting the admin right – invoicing, receipting, credits, and the daily paperwork
  • Product knowledge – becoming a genuine product expert so you can solve problems before they start

What you'll bring

  • Front-counter customer service and yard experience under your belt
  • A full NZ Driver's Licence and a Forklift Licence (F endorsement) – preferred, but not a dealbreaker for the right person
  • The confidence to chat with anyone and solve problems on the fly
  • Solid computer skills and a good head for stock management
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness – you'll be moving product up to 20kg
  • Product knowledge in our industry is a bonus, but we'll back you to learn

What we offer

  • Health insurance (subject to eligibility criteria)
  • Access to company partner discounts
  • Employee Assistance Programme
