First People of the Millewa-Mallee Aboriginal Corporation (FPMMAC) is a dynamic organisation formed by the Latji Latji, Ngintait, and Nyeri Nyeri peoples, the Traditional Owners and Custodians of Country. As the appointed Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) for a significant area in North West Victoria, FPMMAC holds crucial functions and responsibilities to protect and manage Aboriginal cultural heritage. Job Description: Are you passionate about Aboriginal cultural heritage and want to work on culturally significant projects? Do you have a strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and a willingness to learn and grow with our team? If so, we want to hear from you! We are seeking a Cultural Heritage Officer to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for: * Developing and implementing cultural heritage management plans and strategies; * Conducting cultural heritage assessments and surveys; * Providing cultural heritage advice and guidance to stakeholders; * Collaborating with Traditional Owners and other stakeholders to develop and implement cultural heritage projects; * Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of cultural heritage information; * Providing training and capacity building for staff and stakeholders on cultural heritage matters; * Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, government agencies, and other organisations; * Participating in meetings and workshops with stakeholders to discuss cultural heritage matters; * Providing cultural heritage input to FPMMAC's strategic planning and decision-making processes; * Maintaining confidentiality and discretion in the handling of cultural heritage information; * Working collaboratively with other FPMMAC staff to achieve organisational goals and objectives; * Participating in professional development and training opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge; * Performing other duties as required. The successful applicant will possess: * A degree in a relevant field such as archaeology, anthropology, cultural heritage, or a related field; * Strong understanding of Aboriginal culture and history; * Experience in cultural heritage management, conservation, or a related field; * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; * Ability to work independently and as part of a team; * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; * Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion in the handling of cultural heritage information; * Willingness to learn and grow with our team; * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines; * Ability to travel to remote areas and work in a variety of environments; * Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment and be sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
