Job description
Are you ambitious, analytically strong, and ready for the next step? As a Cost Manager at our consultancy and engineering firm, you will work on challenging projects that make a visible impact. You will monitor costs, advise on feasibility, and ensure that plans are financially realistic and future-proof. Our firm is large enough to operate at the highest level, but manageable enough for you to feel truly at home. You will have the space to grow, collaborate with experts, and contribute to sustainable, innovative solutions.
The Challenge
Within our projects, the need for better budget control and cost management is growing. Timely identification and management of financial and contractual risks throughout the entire project lifecycle are also crucial for successful outcomes. Therefore, we are expanding our Cost Management team. We are looking for an experienced Cost Manager who wants to strengthen the team, help it grow into an independent unit, and aims for a leading role themselves. As a Cost Manager, you will be part of the Special Building Consultancy unit.
As a Cost Manager, you will play a key role in managing costs within complex construction and investment projects. You will ensure that projects remain financially realistic and manageable from initiation to completion. With your analytical insight, project experience, and persuasive skills, you will advise on costs, value, and feasibility.
You will manage the integrated cost management process and ensure informed decision-making with reliable and transparent cost information. You will translate financial analyses and risk insights into concrete advice and monitor the application of cost control methodologies within projects. In short, a challenging role for a professional who combines technical expertise with leadership and wants to contribute to the further growth of our Cost Management team.
Your responsibilities include:
Developing and validating integrated cost estimates, cost plans, and cost models in all project phases;
Conducting feasibility studies and benchmark analyses;
Analyzing design, execution, and material choices for cost impact and risks;
Managing and improving cost models, key figures, and benchmarks;
Reviewing cost estimates, quotes, and final accounts from internal and external parties;
Preparing risk analyses and conducting probabilistic cost analyses;
Monitoring and reporting on progress, deviations, and forecasts versus budgets and actuals;
Substantiating investment proposals and business cases with financial analyses;
Managing cost risks and opportunities throughout the project;
Contract management during the execution phase;
Contributing to uniform working methods, benchmarks, and knowledge sharing within the team;
(Co-)responsible for internal improvement projects within cost management.
The Team
As part of our specialized Cost Management Team, you will support Cost Engineers and project teams within the firm and work directly on assignments for our clients. Together, we realize impressive projects within the built environment, from future-proof utility buildings and hospitals to innovative data centers and airports. What binds us is open communication, technical depth, and the ambition to make projects financially and socially impactful.
This is you
You have sharp financial and analytical insight; you quickly grasp the cost structure of projects;
You effortlessly translate technical designs into realistic cost estimates and budgets;
You have experience with project control or cost management within the construction, infrastructure, or energy sector;
You work in a structured, accurate manner and have an eye for detail without losing sight of the overall picture;
You are proactive and think along about smart optimizations in design and execution;
You communicate clearly and convincingly with project teams, clients, and contractors;
You feel at home in a multidisciplinary engineering team and enjoy collaborating on complex projects;
You have a technical HBO or WO background, for example in installation technology, construction, or technical business administration, or a specialized opleiding such as Quantity Surveying;
You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages.
You possess solid (cost) technical knowledge of relevant technical installations;
You want to further develop yourself into a fully-fledged Cost Manager / Cost Consultant who makes an impact on project decisions;
You are entrepreneurial and have the ambition to (further) develop your leadership skills and build a successful team;
What we offer
A position of 32-40 hours per week with a corresponding salary.
Challenging projects for leading clients in the Netherlands and internationally.
A working environment where innovation and sustainability are put into practice daily.
Attention to your personal development and vitality with ample training and development opportunities, bicycle and sports arrangements, flexible working hours, 33 vacation days, and the possibility to purchase additional days.
Hybrid working, with the option to work alternately from home and at the office in The Hague.
A team where collaboration and collegiality are paramount and where we interact informally.
Sustainability is in our DNA. This is reflected, for example, in a mobility policy where health and sustainability are prioritized. Many of our offices are located near public transport hubs, cycling is encouraged, and your travel costs are reimbursed 100% based on public transport.
