Cost Engineer - Body

We are hiring: Project Cost Engineer – Body Systems (Automotive) We are seeking to identify three Project Cost Engineers to join the Body team supporting a leading global OEM. This role focuses on cost estimation, analysis, and optimization across key body and exterior vehicle systems. Technical Scope Exterior (fascia, spoiler) Body in White (BIW) Lighting and/or Sealing, Glazing, Mechanisms Key Responsibilities (Costing & Estimation) Develop detailed should-cost models for body and exterior components, including fascia, spoiler, BIW, lighting, sealing, glazing, and mechanisms. Conduct thorough cost analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and optimization. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives. Provide expert-level support to project managers and engineers in the development of detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets. Develop and maintain comprehensive cost databases and reports to track project performance and progress. Key Responsibilities (Estimation & Analysis) Utilize industry-standard tools and software to perform detailed cost estimation and analysis for body and exterior components. Conduct thorough reviews of design specifications, engineering drawings, and manufacturing processes to ensure accurate cost estimates. Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues that may impact project costs. Develop and maintain comprehensive cost models and databases to track project performance and progress. Key Responsibilities (Optimization & Improvement) Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvements and cost-saving initiatives. Provide expert-level support to project managers and engineers in the development of detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets. Identify and prioritize opportunities for cost reduction and optimization across key body and exterior vehicle systems. Develop and maintain comprehensive reports and dashboards to track project performance and progress. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field. 5+ years of experience in cost engineering, estimating, or a related field. Strong understanding of automotive industry standards, regulations, and best practices. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines. Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
