Our client is a global commodities trading company that started in South Africa and now operates from Geneva, Cape Town, and Richards Bay. It manages the full supply chain from pit to port and uses advanced trading software to find market opportunities. They trade across multiple sectors, supports investors with access to exclusive deals, and helps clients and suppliers streamline operations. The company also runs community initiatives focused on helping children, tying business growth to social impact.

Role Overview

In this role you will support the company’s strategic and financial objectives by providing analytical, modelling, and research support across mining and trading operations. The role involves evaluating investment opportunities, preparing financial models, conducting market and industry analysis, and assisting with capital raising, mergers and acquisitions, and other business development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed financial models to assess investment opportunities, projects, and corporate transactions.
  • Monitor and evaluate the financial performance of existing assets and investments.
  • Conduct valuation analyses (DCF, comparable company, precedent transactions).
  • Prepare presentations, investment memos, and reports for senior management and external stakeholders.
  • Support capital raising initiatives and liaise with financial institutions, investors, and advisors.
  • Perform industry, commodity market, and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related fields.
  • 1-3 years' experience in corporate finance, business development, private equity, transaction advisory, or commodities beneficial.
  • Strong financial modelling and valuation skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of financial statements and corporate finance principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
