Import Coordinator

Zapopan, Jalisco.

At Group KPS we are looking for an Import Coordinator to be in charge of comprehensively managing our import processes, mainly from Asia, ensuring documentary, customs, and sanitary compliance, as well as the timely arrival of our products to Mexico.

You will work directly with international suppliers, customs agencies, freight forwarders, shipping lines, airlines, and carriers, coordinating maritime and air shipments from start to finish.

What will be your main responsibilities?

• Coordinate and follow up on imports from origin to their reception at the warehouse.
• Maintain communication and follow-up with international suppliers, mainly in Asia.
• Review and validate foreign trade documentation: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, BL/AWB, CoA, permits, and other applicable documents.
• Coordinate operations with customs agencies and follow up on merchandise clearance.
• Validate, in conjunction with the relevant departments and suppliers, tariff classification, non-tariff regulations and restrictions, and applicable NOMs.
• Follow up on procedures and requirements before COFEPRIS and VUCEM.
• Coordinate maritime and air shipments with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and airlines.
• Monitor ETD/ETA, international transit, merchandise release, and land transport to the warehouse.
• Anticipate and manage incidents that may cause delays, lateness, or additional costs.
• Keep the information for each import updated and generate reports on times, costs, and incidents.
• Coordinate internally with the Purchasing, Quality, Planning, and Operations departments.

What are we looking for?

• Degree in International Trade, International Business, Logistics, Administration, International Relations, or a related field.
• 3 to 5 years of experience coordinating imports.
• Proven experience in maritime and air shipments from Asia.
• Experience working directly with customs agencies, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and carriers.
• Knowledge of Customs Law, General Foreign Trade Rules, TIGIE, tariff classification, and Incoterms 2020.
• Knowledge and experience with VUCEM.
• Experience in importing regulated products. Experience in dietary supplements, cosmetics, food, or the pharmaceutical industry will be especially valued.
• Knowledge of sanitary regulations and procedures before COFEPRIS.
• Advanced Excel.
• Advanced English, spoken and written.
• Desirable knowledge of SAP Business One.

Key Competencies

We are looking for a person with high attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously. It will be essential to have the ability to negotiate and coordinate with different suppliers, anticipate risks, and resolve contingencies quickly.
