Salary: 70,000 to 80,000 AUD plus superannuation

We are a renowned Indian restaurant dedicated to delivering authentic and high-quality Indian cuisine to our guests. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Chef to join our team and help us elevate our culinary offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspect ingredients such as meats, vegetables, and spices to ensure freshness, authenticity, and quality.
• Operate and regulate ovens, tandoors, grills, and other cooking equipment to maintain proper temperatures.
• Prepare and cook a variety of traditional Indian dishes including curries, breads, rice, and accompaniments.
• Season and balance dishes with appropriate Indian spices and flavours throughout the cooking process.
• Portion and plate meals attractively, adding sauces, chutneys, and garnishes in line with restaurant presentation standards.
• Store cooked and uncooked food items in temperature-controlled areas to ensure hygiene and freshness.
• Prepare meals for customers with specific dietary needs such as vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options.
• Assist in planning daily or weekly menus and estimating ingredient quantities as required.
• Support the training and guidance of junior kitchen staff in Indian cooking techniques and safe food handling practices.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant commercial cookery qualification and industry experience.
• Sound knowledge of Indian dishes, ingredients, and preparation techniques.
• Ability to prepare and cook a variety of menu items efficiently.
• Able to work well under pressure and follow kitchen procedures accurately.
• Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
