Content Designer - FTC

FTC Hybrid

We’re looking for a talented Content Designer to join our team on a fixed-term contract, working with one of our major public sector clients. You’ll be responsible for designing, creating, and iterating content that meets user needs, is accessible, and aligns with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.

As part of a multi-disciplinary agile team, you’ll work closely with user researchers, service designers, product owners, and developers to ensure that content is clear, concise, and supports the overall user experience.

What You’ll Do

• Design, write, and iterate user-focused content for digital services.

• Work with researchers to understand user needs and turn insights into effective content solutions.

• Ensure all content meets accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA) and is inclusive.

• Contribute to and maintain content style guides, patterns, and standards.

• Collaborate with product owners, designers, and developers to deliver joined-up, consistent user journeys.

• Participate in regular content reviews and support usability testing with content prototypes.

• Advocate for good content design and help educate stakeholders on its value.

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Content Designer, UX Writer, or similar role.

• Strong understanding of user-centred design, plain English, and accessibility principles.

• Experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment.

• Ability to explain content decisions clearly and persuasively to stakeholders.

• Knowledge of GDS service standards and designing for public services (desirable but not essential).

• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.

• Comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
