POSITION DESCRIPTION :
Environmental plan management and implementation :
- Actively participate in the implementation of the Regional Wetland and Hydric Milieu Plan (PRMHH).
- Coordinate the works of elaborating the Adaptation Plan to Climate Change (PACC) for the MRC and local municipalities, and contribute to its implementation and follow-up.
- Collaborate in setting up conservation, restoration, and sustainable land use strategies.
Accompaniment of municipalities and developers :
- Support municipalities in their environmental projects, requests for analysis, and regulatory procedures.
- Accompany developers in understanding environmental requirements and best practices.
- Prepare technical advice, recommendations, and environmental analyses.
Participation in regional instances and projects :
- Represent the MRC on various environmental, social, or inter-municipal committees.
- Contribute to regional biodiversity, water management, climate adaptation, sustainable land use, or awareness-raising projects.
Surveillance, sensitization and continuous improvement :
- Ensure surveillance on government laws, regulations, and programs.
- Participate in creating tools, guides, and documents for sensitizing municipalities and citizens.
- Collaborate in improving environmental practices within the MRC.
WORKING CONDITIONS :
This position is a maternity leave replacement, full-time, with 35 hours per week, including variable hours. The salary range according to the collective agreement of the MRC de Maria-Chapdelaine varies between $72,472 and $86,341, and a competitive range of social benefits is added.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
- Degree in Land Use Planning, Environment, Geography or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, ideally in the municipal or parapublic sector.
- Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations, land use planning, agricultural territory protection, and water management.
SKILLS SOUGHT :
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze, plan, organize, and make decisions.
- Social skills and ability to work in a team.
- Rigour, autonomy, and sense of responsibility.
- PREFERRED SKILLS : Mastery of mapping software (ArcGIS, QGIS), knowledge of municipal functioning, knowledge of the MRC de Maria-Chapdelaine territory, experience in environmental project management.
