Job description

We are a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to children, young people, adults with intellectual disabilities and/ or autism, and their families. Based in Canterbury provides a 24/7 service on a rotating roster (covering AM, PM and awake shifts). At the core of our practice philosophy is our belief in people and the rights of all to live in and be part of the community, and to exercise citizenship. We have over 460 staff in a variety of roles that provide support services for people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism, their families and carers. The role of Community Support Worker is an integral part of our service delivery model. As a Community Support Worker, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred support to individuals and their families. This may involve supporting individuals in their own homes, in the community or in one of our supported living services. You will also have opportunities to work with other professionals such as occupational therapists, speech therapists, psychologists and social workers to develop and implement individualised plans for the people we support. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the principles of person-centred practice and be committed to delivering high-quality support that is tailored to the needs of each individual. You will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team and build positive relationships with individuals, families and carers. This role requires a strong commitment to the values of our organisation, including respect for diversity, inclusivity, and social justice. If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism, we would love to hear from you.
