- 1 x full‑time role to February 2027
- 1 x 0.8 FTE role to October 2026 (both roles have the potential to extend)
- Based at Ringwood East, on the lands of the Wurundjeri People, with hybrid work available
- SACS Level 5 - $51.23-$54.39 per hour + 12% Super + generous salary packaging (up to $18,550)
About the program
You’ll join the Community Health Paediatric and Counselling Service, working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence‑based, trauma‑informed counselling and casework across our local community.
Your role, your impact
We’re looking for counsellors who want to make a practical difference for adults, children and families. In this role you will:
- Deliver short‑ to medium‑term counselling (face to face, telehealth, phone) including therapy‑informed approaches to support people experiencing anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, stress, parenting challenges and family violence.
- Create trauma‑informed therapeutic plans and facilitate casework and group work aligned with an 8–10 session model.
- Screen for family violence (MARAM), mental health concerns and substance use, and activate referrals via safe pathways.
- Assess child‑focused risk continuously and co‑design safety plans with clients and supports.
- Collaborate across a multidisciplinary team and document care in line with Each policies, quality standards and compliance requirements.

Who we’re looking for
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), with the ability to build trust, liaise across services and present clearly.
- Skilled in assessment and goal‑focused care planning, using child‑safe, evidence‑based and trauma‑informed practice.
- Organised and reliable—able to manage your caseload, coordinate care, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Inclusive practitioner: confident working with Indigenous, CALD and LGBTIQ+ communities, and using interpreters where needed.
Mandatory qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling, Family Therapy (or related field).
- Registration with a relevant professional body (AASW, ACA, PACFA).
What will make you stand out
- Experience facilitating group wellbeing sessions.
- Additional training in family therapy, child & youth mental health or trauma‑focused modalities.
- Confidence with MARAM and Information Sharing Schemes (FVISS/CISS).
- Experience collaborating across community health and local service networks.
