Job description
The Position
BERLIN · as of now · fixed term until 12/31/2027
Part-time – 32 hrs./week | Position subject to funding approval
Application deadline: 09/30/2026, 1:00 PM
Do you want to communicate socially relevant topics in an understandable, sensitive, and target-group-appropriate manner? Do you have a feel for social media, storytelling, and political education – and want to develop content and campaigns for an antisemitism-critical educational project that reaches young people? Then become part of GermanDream.
About Us
GermanDream is Germany's most prominent educational movement for lived democracy and participation. Through our encounter formats, educational programs, and networking and public relations work, we sustainably convey the values of the Basic Law – in the classroom, in everyday life, and wherever people come together.
With the project DECODED – Antisemitism in Pop Culture and Media, we are expanding our antisemitism-critical educational work in Berlin. Together with Jewish artists, experts, and other cooperation partners, we make antisemitic codes, language, and digital dynamics visible. We strengthen young people, teachers, and pedagogical professionals in recognizing, contextualizing, and confidently confronting antisemitism. The focus is on workshops with young people, training for teachers, digital content, and other formats.
Your Role
You will coordinate and design the communication implementation of the project – from editorial and content planning to publication: You will write texts, design graphics, conceptualize video formats, accompany workshops, shoots, and events, film yourself, and edit short video formats.
In doing so, you will translate the project's technical topics into understandable, sensitive, and target-group-appropriate content for social media, the website, newsletters, and other channels – from Reels, posts, sharepics, and story formats to website texts, newsletter content, and accompanying communication materials for educational offers and events.
You will develop formats and campaigns in close coordination with your direct supervisor, the project team, and the involved subject matter experts. You will prepare insights from the project work editorially and visually, keeping an eye on editorial plans, deadlines, coordination, and necessary materials.
This is how you contribute to ensuring that the project's topics and offerings reach different target groups, Jewish perspectives are respectfully visible, and antisemitism-critical educational work can also have an impact in the digital space.
What awaits you in this role
Content, Editorial, and Storytelling
- You will plan, create, and publish content for project communication for social media, the website, newsletters, and our public relations work.
- You will prepare complex technical content in an understandable, accessible, and target-group-appropriate manner.
- You will design texts, posts, short videos, and other digital formats related to the project's topics and activities.
- You will tell stories from workshops, training sessions, collaborations, and events and make the people and perspectives behind the project visible.
- You will ensure that Jewish perspectives are presented respectfully, with nuance, and in a discrimination-sensitive manner.
- You will adapt content to the respective channels, target groups, and platform logics.
Campaigns, Social Media, and Media Production
- You will develop and implement communication formats, content series, and campaigns within the framework of the project.
- You will manage the project-related content on GermanDream's social media channels and ensure reliable publication.
- You will plan and accompany events, video shoots, interviews, and video portraits, prepare questions and processes, and coordinate with all involved parties.
- You will accompany workshops, shoots, and events on-site, film yourself, and collect suitable photo, video, and soundbite material.
- You will edit short video formats yourself and coordinate further communication measures with internal and external stakeholders.
- You will prepare content, materials, and results from the project for our communication channels.
- You will support community management on our channels, analyze feedback, and adhere to agreed-upon moderation and escalation pathways.
- You will address relevant developments and debates in pop culture, media, and digital spaces and develop suitable communication approaches from them.
Collaboration, Planning, and Evaluation
- You will work closely with your direct supervisor, project management, and the involved subject matter experts, coordinating technically sensitive content with them.
- You will obtain information, materials, and approvals in a timely manner and ensure clear agreements and next steps.
- You will maintain editorial plans and keep track of publications, deadlines, and production processes.
- You will structure and maintain content, photo, and media archives, especially in Notion and Teams.
- You will ensure a consistent visual and linguistic appearance according to GermanDream's Brand Guidelines.
- You will analyze reach, resonance, and relevant key figures and derive learnings for further communication from them.
- You will contribute findings, feedback, and current developments to the further development of content, formats, and campaigns.
- You will make it visible early on if content, deadlines, or production processes need to be adjusted.
What you bring to the role
- You have initial to several years of professional experience in communication, social media, content creation, public relations, or a comparable field of work.
- You have a good feel for storytelling, language, visual worlds, and digital formats.
- You can prepare socio-political and technically complex topics in an understandable and target-group-appropriate manner.
