COLEMANS PRINTING - Print Machinist; Print Finisher

JOB DESCRIPTION: PRINT MACHINIST

Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 per year

Location: Darwin, 0800

Purpose of the position:

Produce consistent quality print products in accordance with industry and company standards and assist with other production areas as required.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

For the Job

1. Complete high quality printing jobs according to specification given in job dockets
2. Conduct regular scheduled maintenance of printing machines in accordance with Heidelberg Maintenance Manuals and company requirements
3. Undertake minor repairs to machinery under direction
4. Provide effective supervision of print assistants and apprentices when required
5. Record time required for each job in print IQ
6. Undertake other duties as directed by the Production Manager, as required.
7. Enhance Colemans Printing’s professional image and reputation in the general marketplace and community
8. Undertake other duties as directed by senior staff

Qualifications:

1. A minimum of Certificate 3 Print Machinist or equivalent qualification
2. Ability to operate and maintain single and multi- colour offset printing machines
3. Understanding of, and ability to implement quality control on all jobs
4. Ability to interpret and implement job specifications
5. Ability to work effectively as a part of a team, and maintain a positive and enthusiastic approach under times of pressure
6. Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision

Experience:

1. Experience with Heidelberg printing machinery and equipment
2. Experience in working with a Colour Management System
3. Certificate 4 Print Machinist or higher qualification
4. Supervisory experience

Purpose of the position:

Produce consistent quality, print finished products, including folding, book binding, cutting and packing, in accordance with industry and company standards.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

For the Job

1. Complete high quality print finishing jobs according to specifications given in job dockets
2. Operate a range of finishing equipment, including but not limited to folding equipment, guillotine, collating, saddle stitch machine (Muller), Perfect Bind machine, cello machine
3. Conduct regular scheduled maintenance of finishing equipment in accordance with maintenance manuals and company requirements
4. Undertake minor repairs to machinery under direction
5. Undertake other duties as directed by the Production Manager or GM, Operations as required.
6. Enhance Colemans Printing’s professional image and reputation in the general marketplace and community
7. Record time required for each job in print IQ
8. Undertake other duties as directed by senior staff
