COBOL Developer (m/w/d) with Java Knowledge

Our bank in Stuttgart is a leading financial institution with a long tradition and a strong focus on innovation. We are facing an exciting phase of transformation, during which we will further develop our tried-and-true mainframe systems while integrating modern technologies. For this challenge, we are looking for an experienced COBOL developer (m/w/d) with Java knowledge to strengthen our team of 10 people.

Your Tasks:

• Development and maintenance of COBOL-based mainframe applications to support our central banking processes.
• Participation in the further development of our systems, with interfaces between mainframe applications and Java-based services playing a central role.
• Analysis and optimization of existing COBOL programs to ensure their efficiency and reliability.
• Support for the gradual replacement of host systems, which is expected to occur over the next 10 years, and transition to a modern, future-proof IT architecture.
• Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative solutions that seamlessly integrate COBOL and Java technologies.
• Technical consulting and support for internal departments and external partners.

Your Profile:

• Degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics or a comparable qualification.
• Multiple years of experience in COBOL development, ideally in the banking sector.
• In-depth knowledge of the mainframe environment (e.g. z/OS, JCL, CICS, DB2).
• Experience with Java development and integrating Java interfaces into mainframe systems.
• Familiarity with working in large, complex IT landscapes and batch processing.
• Self-motivated, structured work style and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Good German and English language skills in writing and speaking.
