About Us: Who is Modumat and what drives us?

We are Modumat – and we are shaping the future of smart, sustainable goods dispensing!

Classic vending machines are often clunky, inflexible, maintenance-intensive, and consume unnecessary resources. With our modular hardware and software approach, we are rethinking the principle: We make automated supply flexibly adaptable, data-driven, and resource-efficient. This way, we create real added value in everyday life – from smart snack stations to inviting, fully automated 24/7 micro-lobbies in hotels.

Behind Modumat are us: Raphael and Frederik, two Computer Science Master's students at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da). Our first prototype is already running successfully in live operation with a pilot customer, and our vision was recently honored with the Dörte-Wörner Innovation Award. As we will complete our Master's degrees in the spring, we are now taking the next step together: we are applying for the EXIST founder scholarship to build Modumat into a sustainably growing full-time startup (GmbH).

Our technology is built on a solid foundation. Now we need you as the 3rd core team member – the strategic, communicative, and economic perspective for our founding team!

What you will achieve at Modumat

As the commercial and communicative pillar of our team, you will connect our technology with the people and markets that need it:

• Brand Building & B2B Communication: You will develop our positioning strategy, give Modumat a strong voice, and make our solution visible to relevant B2B target groups (via LinkedIn, industry events, targeted storytelling, and campaigns).

• Focus Hospitality & Guest Experience: You will dive deep into the world of hospitality (e.g., modern 24/7 lobby concepts, smart minibar replacement, relief for hotel staff) and, together with decision-makers in the industry, design solutions that delight both guests and hotel teams.

• Partnerships & Customer Relationships: You will build sustainable relationships with B2B partners (hotels, coworking spaces, modern hosts) and, together with us, win initial pilot partners and Letters of Intent (LOIs) for the EXIST application.

• Business Model & EXIST Application: You will take responsibility for the economic part of our founding journey – from market and target group analysis to fair pricing models and financial planning within the framework of the EXIST scholarship.

• Web Presence & Public Image: You will design our appearance (website, pitch decks, communication materials) in such a way that innovative technology becomes understandable, inviting added value for our customers.

What you bring

(Note: You don't have to have years of experience in every single point yet – your enthusiasm for learning new topics and growing with us is much more important!)

• Academic Background: You are studying Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality/Tourism Management, International Business, Communication Management, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (nearing Master's degree completion or already graduated).

• Feel for Hospitality & Service (Big Plus): You are familiar with the dynamics of the hotel or gastronomy industry (e.g., staff shortages, guest needs, 24/7 service) through internships, working student positions, or your network – or you have a great desire to support this exciting industry with meaningful technology.

• Communication Skills & Customer Focus: You listen carefully to customers, understand their challenges, and can convey complex products empathetically, clearly, and convincingly.

• Openness to Tech & Modern AI Tools: You don't need to write a single line of code. It is important that you are curious about digital innovations and enjoy using modern AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Canva/design tools, or research tools) to make your daily work creatively and efficiently easier.

• Drive to Shape & Team Spirit: You enjoy working in a structured and independent manner, but you also value close team exchange to further develop ideas together.
