Cloud Security Engineer: Incident Response & Threat Hunting

A leading digital bank in Johannesburg is seeking a top-tier security professional to protect its digital assets. The ideal candidate has 3-6 years of experience in cybersecurity operations and a strong proficiency in cloud security services including AWS and Azure. Responsibilities include managing incident response and developing security detection rules. A Bachelor's degree in a related field is required, along with expertise in scripting languages. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based security controls, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate potential threats. Key responsibilities include: • Developing and maintaining incident response plans and procedures; • Conducting threat hunting exercises to identify and remediate potential security vulnerabilities; • Collaborating with the security operations center (SOC) team to monitor and respond to security incidents; • Designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud-based security controls, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption technologies; • Conducting regular security assessments and compliance audits to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements; • Collaborating with the development team to integrate security controls into applications and services; • Staying up-to-date with emerging threats and trends in cloud security and adapting incident response plans accordingly. Requirements: • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, information assurance, or cybersecurity; • 3-6 years of experience in cybersecurity operations, including cloud security services; • Strong proficiency in scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell; • Experience with cloud-based security controls, including AWS and Azure; • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities; • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
