Cloud Platform Engineer (m/f/d)

Full Time Entry Level

Job description

Immediate

Immediately

What awaits you

With our green-field approach, we are building a new cloud in our German data centers – completely self-hosted, cloud-native, and without dependence on American hyperscalers. Each of our customers receives a dedicated Kubernetes cluster based on the SUSE stack (Harvester, RKE2), deployed and managed via Fleet, with its own tenant management.

You are not the operator of a foreign system, but you are shaping the platform on which our software runs as SaaS – with real responsibility and real scope for design.

Digital sovereignty is not a promise for us, but operational reality. The business-critical applications of insurers and clients from public administration run on this platform. The requirements for availability, information security, and traceability are at the highest level. For this, our Managed Services are certified according to BSI C5.

What awaits you

Develop and shape the platform

  • Conception, setup, and further development of the self-hosted cloud platform (multi-cluster, no hyperscaler dependency, full control)
  • Architecture and design of highly available Kubernetes clusters in the SUSE stack, including networking, storage, load balancing, and authentication
  • Design and further development of the tenant concept: isolated customer environments, responsibility for architecture and lifecycle
  • Coordination with development regarding performance and availability-relevant requirements for the cluster and tenant concept
  • Further development of the high availability concept: a distributed in-memory approach across multiple nodes (swarm technology) that ensures the real-time capability of the applications during normal operation
Automate and standardize
  • GitOps workflows via ArgoCD and Fleet – fully automated from initial delivery to day-2 operation
  • Infrastructure as Code with Ansible, Terraform, or comparable tools; Policy as Code for security and governance
  • CI/CD integration and standardization of deployment processes
Bridge to development teams and customers
  • Platform Engineering for internal teams: building self-service capabilities, defining standards, accompanying onboarding
  • Active support of development teams in migrating their workloads to the cloud platform
  • Processing insights from ongoing operations (monitoring data, incidents) for continuous improvement of stability, security, and performance

What you bring with you

Must-have

  • Several years of experience in cloud or platform engineering, container technologies, or infrastructure automation
  • In-depth Kubernetes knowledge, ideally from operating productive multi-cluster environments
  • Experience with GitOps workflows (ideally ArgoCD or Fleet) and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform)
  • Fluent German skills (min. C1) as well as very good English skills in speaking and writing
  • Willingness to travel for customer appointments and appointments at our other locations
Nice-to-have
  • Experience with SUSE Stack or comparable Kubernetes management platforms
  • Knowledge in DevSecOps, Policy as Code, or high availability concepts
  • Experience with monitoring stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana)
Personal
  • Systemic thinking instead of ticket-focus, with an eye for the big picture
  • Confident demeanor and communication at eye level with development teams and customers
  • Structured, independent, and solution-oriented way of working
  • Experience in managing topics across team and customer boundaries

What we offer you

  • Take responsibility and use your scope for design to realize your own ideas.
  • Work where impact is created: in the office or directly at the customer's site. Home office is the exception – for this, we offer you flexible working hours and an office where people enjoy working and spending the day together.
  • Benefit from internal and external training that will advance you professionally and personally.
  • Enjoy benefits such as BusinessBike, EGYM Wellpass, Corporate Benefits, and a subsidy for public transport.
  • In addition to a VWL subsidy, we offer you a company pension plan and childcare support.
  • Whether surfing, hiking, mountain biking, or golfing – there is something for everyone at our diverse employee events!
