Job description

Provision of Youth Therapeutic Interventions in Schools, and Other Settings

ProCare Fresh Minds leads some of the most innovative interventions to support people to improve their mental wellbeing and resolve challenges. Our service sees a wide range of individuals and whanau of all ages and backgrounds, providing incredibly diverse and rewarding caseloads to our large team of practitioners.
Committed to reducing inequities at Fresh Minds we are passionate about working with our clients to ensure they have the tools needed to navigate their own journey in the best way possible.
The opportunity: Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Fresh Minds is committed to providing youth mental health support both in schools and other settings that young people access across the central Auckland district. Our overarching aim is to change the trajectory of young people who are often experiencing disparities in health and mental health outcomes.
While you may work in one or more of the 11 secondary schools we support, or at another site, including our own offices, you are very much a member of the Fresh Minds wider team, with an Ellerslie base. During the school term, you operate out of School Health Centres alongside other health professionals including registered nurses and GPs.
You will work alongside a vibrant group of ProCare Fresh Minds psychologists. Reaching young people early, delivering interventions, working collaboratively with the school-based health team, and the provision of case consultation with school and health centre staff is core to the role. There are also significant opportunities for innovation, including the development of and facilitation of youth-appropriate group and webinar programmes within a school setting.

  • Registered psychologist (Clinical scope) with a current practicing certificate.
  • Comprehensive clinical experience in modalities such as Motivational Interviewing, ACT, CBT, DBT, and/or FACT.

  • Training and support are provided for early career psychologists and for psychologists planning to return to the workforce.
  • A passion for working with people from all walks of life in a targeted intervention, primary mental health context.
  • You will be flexible, a self-starter, and able to work autonomously and as part of a team.
The Fresh Minds Centres see individuals and families across the age range and offer a range of interventions, including brief interventions, tele-therapy, 'live' interactive webinars, parenting programmes, Mindfulness, and other groups.
