Job description

About Enzo

Enzo is an innovative technology service provider based in Heidelberg that addresses one of the biggest structural cost problems in building insurance: water damage.

With our patented IoT and AI-based solution one.drop, we detect water loss early and help insurers and their customers prevent damage or limit its extent.

Our mission is clear: Establish prevention as an economically measurable and scalable component of building insurance - with economic and ecological impact.

Together with leading insurance companies, we are implementing this mission. To do this, we need to precisely understand how claim development changes in the managed portfolios and what contribution Enzo makes to this.

This is exactly why we are looking for you.

Responsibilities

Your Role

As a Claims Controller, you will take responsibility for a well-founded, holistic view of the claims development of our insurance partners.

You will understand how insurers evaluate claim portfolios, define key performance indicators (KPIs), and assess results. You speak their language and can collaborate with claims controlling, claims management, and actuarial departments at eye level.

From various data sources, you will develop a consistent view of claim frequency, average claim cost, and total claim costs. You will make changes visible, interpret them technically, and create reliable foundations for evaluating the economic impact of our prevention efforts.

You will go beyond creating reports: you will identify anomalies, question interpretations, and derive concrete insights for our insurance partners and our own team.

Your Area of Responsibility

Understanding and making claims development transparent

  • Establishment of overarching claims controlling for insurance portfolios managed by Enzo

  • Analysis of claim frequency, average claim cost, total claim costs, and - with appropriate data - loss ratios

  • Differentiation by claim causes, portfolio characteristics, time periods, and relevant customer groups

  • Early identification and technical classification of trends, deviations, and anomalies

Ensuring comparability and data quality

  • Coordination of data requirements, KPI definitions, and analysis logics with our insurance partners

  • Consolidation and plausibility check of different portfolio and claims data

  • Consideration of portfolio structure, exposure, observation period, claim maturity, and reserve status

  • Development of understandable standards that enable cross-partner analyses and make differences transparent

Reliably assessing prevention impact

  • Development of suitable before-and-after analyses and comparisons between portfolios with and without sensor technology

  • Assessment of the extent to which observed differences can be explained by prevention or other influencing factors

  • Clear distinction between observed changes, modeled savings, and reliably proven effects

  • Collaboration with Customer Success and our data team on the further development of our impact and ROI models

Translating insights into decisions

  • Creation of understandable reports and analyses for specialist departments, management, and executive boards

  • Technical exchange with the claims controlling, claims management, and actuarial departments of our partners

  • Derivation of concrete recommendations for action for portfolio selection, prevention measures, and operational improvements

  • Development of reusable analyses and increasingly automated reporting processes

Qualifications

Your Profile

Experience in Claims Controlling

  • Several years of experience in claims controlling, insurance controlling, claims analysis, or a comparable analytical function at an insurer

  • Good understanding of claims processes and the operational management in the claims/property & casualty business

  • Experience in residential building insurance is particularly valuable

Technical and Analytical Proficiency

  • You are familiar with the KPIs, data structures, and analysis logics that insurers use to manage their claims development

  • You can technically classify payment statuses, reserves, and claim expenses and know how analyses differ by claim year, reporting year, or financial year

  • You recognize when data allows for a reliable conclusion and when further information or a different comparison logic is required

  • You work precisely and make assumptions, uncertainties, and limitations of an analysis transparent

Proficient in Data and Tools

  • Very good Excel skills and experience with BI and reporting tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, or comparable solutions

  • Ideally, SQL skills and experience with large datasets

  • Interest in transferring manual analyses into reliable, repeatable processes

Communication and Ownership

  • You can explain complex analyses understandably and represent them to experienced stakeholders on the insurer side

  • You constructively question results and remain technically clear, even when an analysis does not confirm expectations

  • You take responsibility from data request to reliable conclusion

  • Very good German and good English

Benefits

Why Enzo?

  • Your analyses make impact visible
You create the basis on which insurers decide on the use and scaling of prevention.

  • Building rather than established routines
You develop our claims controlling and shape its methods, standards, and tools.

  • Insurance knowledge meets technology
You combine your experience from the insurance industry with IoT, AI, and early claims prevention.

  • Direct influence on the business
Your insights feed into product development, customer engagement, and strategic decisions.

  • Close collaboration with the founding team
Short decision-making paths, significant scope for creativity, and responsibility for a central aspect of our development.
