Melbourne Interiors Pty Ltd is a well-established and growing organisation involved in delivering high-quality construction and engineering solutions. We are seeking a qualified and motivated Civil Engineer to join our team and contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of complex civil engineering projects.

Position Overview

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for designing, planning, organising, and overseeing the construction of civil engineering projects including infrastructure and structural works. The role involves technical design, cost estimation, site coordination, and ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, plan, organise, and oversee civil engineering projects such as dams, bridges, pipelines, gas and water supply schemes, sewerage systems, roads, airports, and other structures
  • Analyse soil and rock behaviour under structural loads and design safe and effective structural foundations
  • Analyse the statical and dynamic properties of structures and test the behaviour and durability of construction materials
  • Determine appropriate construction methods, materials, and quality standards
  • Draft, interpret, and review specifications, drawings, plans, construction methods, and procedures
  • Organise and direct site labour and coordinate the delivery of construction materials, plant, and equipment
  • Develop detailed construction programs to coordinate site activities and ensure timely project delivery
  • Obtain soil and rock samples at various depths and conduct geotechnical testing to determine strength, compressibility, and safe loading capacities
  • Study architectural and engineering drawings to estimate total construction costs and prepare detailed cost plans and estimates
  • Monitor design changes, assess cost impacts, and measure, value, and negotiate variations
  • Analyse structural systems for static and dynamic loads to ensure safety and performance
  • Design structures to prevent collapse, excessive bending, twisting, or vibration
  • Assess current and future travel flow patterns considering population growth and changing transport needs
  • Design transportation infrastructure including highways, railroads, urban transit systems, air transportation facilities, logistics supply systems, and terminals
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Relevant experience in civil or structural engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, codes, and regulations
  • Experience with geotechnical analysis, structural design, and cost estimation
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills
  • Registration or eligibility for professional registration (e.g. Engineers Australia) preferred
